About Me!

Hello!

Yes, this is I!

Hello! My name is Trevor Rose. I am currently a freshman at BYU-Idaho working towards a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering. I was born in Logan, Utah but most recently lived in South Florida for 8 years before moving here to Rexburg. I'll be attending here for the Fall and Winter semesters before I plan on leaving on my mission.

My Interests

I've been programming for as long as I can remember. I've done website, iOS apps with Swift, and games in the Unity enigne with C#. My most recent project was a bowling game for an augmented reality headset called the Magic Leap One, which you can check out here if you're interested. I also occasionally play video games, primarily open-world games like Minecraft and Subnautica. 3D printing is another one of my hobbies, and the Iron Man helmet you can see me so beautifully displaying above was built myself with blood, sweat, and really hot plastic. I also really enjoy scuba diving because it gives you this feeling of weightlessness and awe seeing creatures that you would never have seen without a tank of air strapped to your back. However, it isn't as easy to do it here in Idaho as it was in Florida, where there was basically a beach on every street corner.

My Current Family

I am #2 of 5 kids. My older brother is currently on his mission. He was assigned to serve in Uruguay but is currently awaiting permission to enter while serving in Reno, Nevada. My younger brothers and sister (the youngest) are still at home.

Intentions at BYU-Idaho

As a software engineer, web development is extremely important. It's usually the quickest way to develop content that can be used by any electronic device with a web browser, without being extremely difficult or time-consuming to develop for. I personally really enjoy doing it because you can develop extremely rapidly, and all of the work that you do can be seen instantly, making debugging a non-issue. With this course, I'm hoping to learn the "correct" way to do some things, as I have probably developed some bad habits from years of self-teaching from online resources.

History in the Church

I was born into the Church. In my family, my dad served his mission in Canada near New Brunswick and Price Edward Island. As I said before, my brother is currently out on his mission, and I hope to be next. Realistically, the reason that I decided to attend BYU-Idaho instead of a local school in Florida is because I wanted the experience of attending this school where education and religion are so deeply connected. Even though the temple isn't open, it's really cool to be so close to one, and I hope that it will re-open soon enough that I'm able to visit it.
